We know that trying new things can be difficult, and you may have lots of questions about any of our activities or services. Here’s a list of our frequently asked questions, but if you have any further questions please visit the contact us page.

Counselling

How do I get referred to counselling in schools?
Speak to your pastoral team who will be able to refer you, or direct you to our referrals team.

How do I access counselling outside of schools? (up to 25)
There is a referral form on our website which you can find on our Mental Health Support page or you can call the office on 01606 557666 and a form can be filled out with you over the phone.

What happens once I’ve been referred?
While you are on the waiting list, you will have a phone appointment with one of our team to have an initial assessment. This is a chat where you’ll answer some questions about how you’re feeling and what’s going on with you at the moment. Together with our team, we will determine what is the most appropriate support for you to access. Please be aware that being referred for counselling does not guarantee you will receive it, as another type of intervention may be more suited to your needs.

What does counselling involve?
Counselling is a safe space for you to speak about yourself and anything you feel is important to you. What you say in the sessions is kept confidential between you and your counsellor, unless there is a safeguarding concern (your counsellor will discuss this with you). You will have six sessions every week on the same day, at the same time.
